Here's the letter I sent to the Presidency of the Republic:

SUBJECT: THE PROBLEM OF SPARE PARTS TO REPAIR watchmakers
Ill.mo and Stim.mo President,
highest office of the Italian State, the guardian and guarantor of the Constitution of the Republic. Rodolfo
are Saviola, aged 54, repairer watchmaker in Milan. I turn to you on behalf of the many Italian watchmakers to submit an age-old problem that, in contempt and disregard of the articles 3 and 4 of our Constitution, we will all be unemployed very soon.
In short these are the facts: the companies that own the big Italian watch companies refuse to provide the necessary spare parts for watchmakers to do their work, concentrating in this way, the repair work at the same companies, at prices far more high because obviously played in a comfortable market suddenly devoid of any competition and thus damaging the end-users.
This problem has already been called for the involvement of several institutions, including le quali l’Antitrust, ma purtroppo ad oggi senza alcun esito.
La cosa peggiore è che così facendo si determinerà la chiusura di tante piccole imprese artigiane, sostentamento di altrettante famiglie e andrà persa l’Arte dell’ Orologeria poiché nessun giovane si avvicinerà più a questo mondo magico.
Vi sono leggi vigenti italiane ed europee che dovrebbero vietare questo modo di fare ma, mi creda, la nostra categoria è in fondo troppo esigua per sperare che qualcuno alle nostre spalle abbia voglia di tutelarci. Nel mio piccolo ho raccolto un dossier di oltre 500 firmatari.
Nel rispetto di una legalità che noi siamo obbligati ad ottemperare con scrupolo, chiedo a Lei un consiglio paterno su come fare valere le nostre ragioni.
Mi creda, svolgo da 40 anni con perizia e passione questo lavoro e desidererei sopra ogni altra cosa continuare a poterlo fare.
La ringrazio per avermi letto, nutro nel cuore la speranza che il Primo Cittadino della Repubblica Italiana possa dare un contributo a tutela dei nostri diritti.
